Your first visit to Iowa Dermatology Consultants is a big step towards maintaining healthy skin for life.  During this visit, we look forward to establishing a trusted relationship with you. To deliver the best care possible, we need information from you to develop your treatment plan. You’re unique and your skin care plan should be too.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled first appointment to allow us sufficient time to process your paperwork. For future follow-up appointments, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time for the check-in process.

Expect your visit to start with a review of your medical history.  We need to know about your health and medications that could impact your skin. From there, we will examine the problem that brought you to the appointment.  We will then recommend a treatment plan.

Quality care begins with good communication.  When you come to your first visit, these items are very helpful and will make your Iowa Dermatology Consultants experience smoother:

• A current copy of your insurance card and a photo ID.
• Patient forms found in our patient portal
• Co-payment if required
• A list of all current medications and supplements you are taking.

If possible, arrive without any makeup, nail polish, and jewelry–this gives us an unobstructed view of your skin.  If you have been referred to us by another physician, bring the results of any lab work, tests, or biopsies they have done with you or make sure that your primary physician has forwarded those on to us before your appointment.
