Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) with Microneedling

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) with Microneedling?

Microneedling with PRP is a safe treatment to address fine lines and wrinkles, skin pigmentation issues such as sun damage or melasma, acne and surgical scars, and stretch marks. After applying a topical numbing cream, the micro needles gently perforate the skin, creating a portal for your own platelet rich plasma to enter. This stimulates the natural healing response and encourages your skin to produce new collagen, improving the overall texture and tone of the skin.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)injections are also a natural way to stimulate hair growth. Your platelet rich plasma contains natural growth factors that stimulate blood supply to the follicle, increases hair shaft size, triggers and maintains the growth phase, and decreases hair loss. Treatments should be administrated every 4-6 weeks for the first 3-4 treatments. Once hair regrowth is established, injections can be spaced out to 2-3 times a year for maintenance.

Pre-treatment Preparation

Microneedling should not be performed within 4 weeks of having had fillers or Botox.

In the 24-48 hours prior to treatment, stay well hydrated. Avoid fatty foods and alcohol. Do eat something light 2 hours prior to your procedure.

To minimize bruising with your blood draw, avoid aspirin and NSAIDS the week before your procedure if possible. Let your doctor know if you take blood thinners.

After a small amount of your blood is drawn, the PRP component is separated according to a special protocol and prepared to be used for your treatment.

Post-treatment Care

Immediately after treatment the most common side effects are redness, mild swelling, bruising and tenderness. Cooling gel packs may be used to soothe the treatment area

Wait 12 hours before washing your face. Use only the cleanser, serum and moisturizer we suggest for the first 24 hours. It is normal for the skin to take up to 7 days to look and feel normal. Twenty-four hours after the procedure it is safe to use your own gentle cleansers, facial moisturizers and make up products.

DO NOT use any glycolic acids, retinoids, anti-aging or anti acne care products for 7 days after your treatment.

Most people need a series of treatments (at least 3-4) spaced every 4-6 weeks apart to notice significant effects. It takes six months to notice full effects.
